Who We Are and What We Do

The Mountain View Educational Foundation (MVEF) teams up with our community to raise funds for essential and innovative educational programs for every student in the Mountain View Whisman School District. We believe that every student deserves a well-rounded and competitive education, which is why MVEF donors make a big difference by supporting our programs.

Vision & Mission

The Mountain View Educational Foundation’s vision is that every student in the Mountain View Whisman School District feels a sense of belonging and is empowered to reach their full potential.

Our mission is to collaborate with the community to fund and nurture innovative and essential programs that foster a well-rounded education for all students in the district.

How Do We Fit In and Why MVEF Matters?

In the education funding landscape, MVEF plays a vital role in bridging the gap between state funding and the resources needed to provide a truly exceptional education for our students. While the Mountain View Whisman School District provides the essential foundation, MVEF goes the extra mile to enhance and enrich the educational experience.

 

​The school district provides the core necessities like teacher salaries, textbooks, and basic supplies.​

 

MVEF funds the "extras" that make a big difference, like art, music, science programs, smaller English Language Art (ELA) class sizes, and support for sports and clubs.

What We Fund

Music & Arts Programs (TK-5)

We bring creativity to life with weekly art and music lessons taught by talented professionals provided by the Community School of Music & Arts (CSMA) in every elementary classroom.  At the end of the school year, all students have the opportunity to perform music concerts and showcase their art work thanks to your generous donations.

Hands-On Science (TK-6)

Students explore the wonders of the natural world through hands-on lessons in our school gardens taught by Living Classroom and exciting field trips to tide pools, organic farms, and even boat rides on the Bay, organized by Environmental Volunteers and other partners.

English Language Arts (6-8)

We help middle schoolers excel in English Language Arts (ELA) by reducing class sizes with additional language teachers, ensuring more personalized attention for each student.

Athletic Programs (6-8)

We make sure every middle school student has the opportunity to play sports and stay active. MVEF funds coaches, referees, and bus transportation.

Clubs & Activities (6-8)

Through MVEF, students have the ability to explore their interests in school through clubs and other activities such as the performing arts.

This year's goal is to raise over $1,200,000 from both household donations and corporate matching with grants.  Our suggested donation is $1,100 per student, but every dollar makes a difference.

Donate:  Every dollar counts! Your donation directly funds art, music, science, reduced english class sizes, sports, clubs, and more for our students.

Volunteer:  We're always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help spread the word about MVEF in our schools and neighborhoods. If you love connecting with people and sharing our mission, we'd love to have you on our team!

Attend a Board Meeting: We welcome you to attend our board meetings to learn more about our work and how you can get involved.
